This module aims to explore the relationship between social isolation and loneliness, contextualizing it through the lens of available data and research while presenting the risk factors associated with loneliness. It also seeks to create space for discussions on the identification and referral process of cases, as well as strategies for mitigation in each partner country, highlighting key approaches adopted to promote interpersonal relationships among older adults.
A brief introduction to the FRIEND Programme will also be provided, clarifying its objectives and the initiative’s intention to empower older adults in developing more meaningful and positive relationships and connections.
